BAB Intense Race Report - UKGE Afan

A successful weekend for BAB Intense.

The Bad Ass Bikes Intense team were out in force on the dry and dusty trails of Afan at round 3 for The UK Gravity Enduro Last weekend. With a mix of familiar trail centre descents and freshly cut trails, the stage was set for a showdown in the sun. This round was designed by series director Steve Parr to be a real test of the riders fitness, with 5 stages set out over a 45KM course with 5000ft of climbing.

In the Masters class BAB Intense managed to get two riders in the top 10 with Joe Finney having a storming ride to 2nd place and Rich Wood coming home in 10th, scoring their best result all season. There were mixed fortunes for Series points challenger Andrew Titley who sustained a broken shoulder blade at Round 2 in Innerleithen. Following a crash onto his broken shoulder in seeding, Titley started his race from 22nd place. Gritting his teeth and battling on he managed to claw back time and finish in 11th - keeping the series points challenge alive. Racing Enduro is all about consistency, scoring good points at Afan could very well prove to be the most important result of the season for Andrew Titley.

Rob 'Box' Cooksley also had a bit of bad luck in the pro elite category. After qualifying 4th and then winning stages 1 and 2, rob had to retire due to a mechanical. An extremely frustrating result for the team manager, but he's fired up for a comeback at round 4.

In the veterans category Andy Saddler made the most of his local knowledge and smashed his way round to take the 2nd win of the season for Bad Ass Bikes Intense. Last but not least Matt Hending brought his Carbine 29er home in 6th place in the Grand vets category - making it 4 riders in the top 10.

Round 3 brought a mix of success and drama for the BAB Intense team - but that is racing. A month's break before Round 4 at the Dyfi Valley things are looking good with Andrew Titley on course for the Masters series win and all other riders finishing in the top 10.
